When I came to see Amy initially I admit I was sceptical. Having suffered from anxiety and depression for many years I had tried regressive therapy, CBT and antidepressants all of which had little long term impact.
However, Amy’s methods had an almost immediate positive impact. By talking through specific scenarios that had “set me off” we were able to both rationalise the stimuli and agree an action that will either prevent the stimuli reoccurring or having a detrimental impact. This is solution based therapy and widely recognised as a highly effective way to treat mental Health issues. Highly experienced, empathetic and intelligent Amy is able to dissect to the core of an issue within a few minutes whilst making you feel you are simply talking to a friend. Supporting this emotional intelligence is a shrewd practical mind that is able to develop effective solutions that you take away to use in your day to day. A normal session is split into a period of solution based therapy and then a period of hypotherapy. The hypnotherapy reinforces the practical actions and allows your mind to completely relax, leaving you refreshed and relaxed ready to rejoin the world.
Amy monitors your progress by asking you to rate your mood out of 10. I started with Amy as a 3 or 4, lacking energy and motivation with a permanent sense of anxiety. One of the dreaded first questions was “what do you enjoy?” Now I am consistently maintaining a long term 7/8. This has been transformational in my life and the renewed energy and vigour has had a positive impact at both home and work.
